It's gettin' hot in here!

When we got up this morning it was already a balmy 20 degrees...

We got ourselves up and out pretty quickly this morning so we could hit the road to Montpelier. We made it to Cristin and Patrick's by around 11:00. The P got to meet Tegan and Finn and check out all of the cool toys in their playroom. After she scoped out the place we bundled up the kids, and ourselves, and went out to play in the snow. We walked up the road to visit the neighbor's horse, Oreo, and fed her some carrots. Then we went back to their house and sledded and "snowboarded" down the hill. The P had a great time playing in the snow and watching her new friends play. She seemed to gain a lot of confidence from watching them and did a great job walking around on the snow and ice all by herself.

Once the kids were worn out, we went inside for lunch. They drank yogurt and ate sandwiches together and then we put everyone down for naps. Tegan was nice enough to let The P sleep in a plack n' play in her room. When the kids were all sleeping we got to catch up with Cristin and Pat. After naptime we bundled up again and drove up the street to the "Sugar Shack". It is a working sugar house/tourist spot with all of the apparatus to make maple syrup. We checked out the equipment and then took a peek through the gift shop. We were there until they were ready to close, so we quickly ordered some "creamies" (maple syrup flavored soft serve ice cream cones), and ate them outside. The P LOVED her creamy! It was all over her face, and it was freezing outside while she was eating ice cream, but she didn't care. Once we finished our treats we said goodbye to the O'Donnell's and drove back to our own Sugarhouse.

When we got back "home" we went over to Roger's. He gave us a tour of his beautiful house on Grasshoper Hill. The highlight of our visit was seeing his cats, Kat and Kaboodle. The P loved spotting the "meow meows" and chasing them all around. She even snuggled up to them on their beds and tried to give them their toys. This was her first real expose to cats, so we are hoping she doesn't have dad's allergy. After a long, fun day, we made it home and put The P to bed. She was exhausted!
